Jessica Berlin, Founder & CEO
Jessica is an entrepreneur and development expert with a knack for turning new ideas into reality. Her career has spanned over ten years with public, private, academic, and nonprofit organizations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America in economic development, education, energy, agriculture, and infrastructure. This work inspired Jessica to create CoStruct and build new models for advancing business and development in transitional economies. She holds a B.A. in International Relations from Tufts University and an M.Sc. in Political Economy of Emerging Markets from King's College London.
Liana Newton, Communications
Liana is a communications strategist with a background in public relations and business development. Her experience includes creating, editing, and publishing external and internal communication materials for the world’s largest defense contractor and supporting attorney/client relations for a major global law firm. Liana holds a B.A. in Communication and Corporate Public Relations with a minor in Health Services Administration from Drexel University. She is driven by a continual interest in helping the tech and business community and adding value to the customers and communities they serve.
Riley Brandt, Technical Advisor
Riley is a mechanical engineer and materials scientist specializing in renewable energy and medical devices. He is especially interested in leveraging the rapid growth in inexpensive computing hardware to design low-cost technology solutions. This also includes assessing energy sources necessary to power these new tools, with a particular focus in solar power. Riley’s background in engineering also includes teaching and entrepreneurship, having co-founded a medical device start-up. He has a Ph.D. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.
Garrett Hemann, Technical Advisor
Garrett is a robotics engineer focusing on long-range mobile autonomy. His specialization in robotics and technology fuels his passion for education and bringing tech to a larger audience. Alongside his background in research and software development, Garrett volunteers at various youth programs teaching math, programming, and robotics throughout the United States. Additionally, he led the planning and execution of various international leadership conferences, and serves as a co-founder and CTO of an educational technology startup that measures collaboration of students in group projects. Garrett has a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from MIT and a M.Sc. in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University.
Adriana Htoo, Research Assistant
Adriana is an Electrical Engineering student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Prior to her university studies, she completed an International Baccalaureate at Richmond Secondary School and captained her school's basketball and tennis teams. Adriana is originally from Myanmar and has a strong passion for technology. She is driven to find ways to advance technology development in Myanmar in her future career as an engineer.
